UTV Takeover Set July 28-August 1; Schedule of Events Released

GRUNDY, VA (JULY 13, 2021) – In less than two weeks, Southern Gap will be “taken over” by UTV Takeover out of the Pacific Northwest as the UTV Takeover event, geared toward off-road ATV/UTV enthusiasts, begins July 28 at Southern Gap Outdoor Adventure.

A schedule of events was released this week and shows a full slate of activities for the event, now in its third year at Southern Gap Outdoor. The Southern Gap location is one of four locations in the United States at which 2K21 UTV Takeover events are hosted. The other three locations are in Oregon, Oklahoma and Utah. Booking for campsites and RV spots and pre-sales on event admission for the Virginia event are now open with all booking and tickets for the UTV Takeover event through utvtakeover.com.

“We are looking forward to our return to Virginia and Southern Gap Outdoor Adventure for this third year of UTV Takeover,” said Jim McIntire, UTV Takeover owner. “Each year the Virginia event – one of four we host nationwide — has grown and this year promises to be one of the biggest and best yet. We still have some limited camping available, but it’s going fast. We hope everyone in the region will make the opportunity to attend the event and to join us in what we know is the most epic event in the east.”

Twelve-year-old stunt driver Ruslan Yankilevich, from California, is expected to make a return trip to Southern Gap this year as a UTV Takeover partner athlete.

The event to be held at Southern Gap Outdoor Adventure, like past UTV Takeover events, is designed to bring riders, sponsors and vendors together to enjoy a family-friendly, action-packed days of fun and riding. From group rides, night rides, mud bogs, drag racing, rally course racing, hill climbs, barrel racing, games, daily raffles, a kids zone, Show-n-Shine Day and Night events and more, there promises to be a little something for everyone at the Southern Gap event.

UTV Takeover 2K21 officially opens Wednesday, July 28 as campers move in and vendor row is set up.

The front gate, vendor row and the Kids Zone officially open on Thursday, July 29 at 9 a.m. The opening of Demo Rides by Kawasaki and Yamaha, the start of the treasure hunt and a guided daytime group ride also begin at 9 a.m.

At 11 a.m., the tire toss competition gets underway with divisions for adults and kids. Registration is at 10:30 a.m. in the mini-games arena.

At noon, on July 29, the Dizzy Daze competition starts followed by Race the Clock at 1 p.m.; the mud run at 3 p.m. and ATV Mud Bogs at 4 p.m.

A Happy Hour meet-n-greet gets underway at 6 p.m., as does the cornhole tournament and Stereo Wars.

The day is capped off by a guided night ride at 8 p.m., followed by Rock-n-Roll Bingo at 10 p.m.

Friday, July 30, the gates, vendor row, the Kids Zone and Demo Rides open again at 9 a.m.  and a guided daytime group ride takes off for the trails.

At 11 a.m., barrel racing gets underway followed by 2 p.m. UTV/ATV Rally Course racing. The mud bogs fire up for UTV’s at 4 p.m. to be followed by a 6 p.m. Happy Hour Meet-n-Greet, the first benefit raffle and the daytime show-n-shine. The guided night ride departs the campground at 8 p.m. and is followed by rock-n-roll bingo at 10 p.m.

Saturday, July 31, the gates, vendor row, the Kids Zone and Demo Rides open again at 9 a.m.  and a guided daytime group ride takes off again for the trails.

At 11 a.m., the fun and games start with Blind Bandit at 11 a.m.; UTV/ATV drag racing at 2 p.m.; Hillfest at 4 p.m.; followed by a 6 p.m. Happy Hour Meet-n-Greet, the final benefit raffle and the show-n-shine. A guided night ride leaves the campground at 8 p.m. and is followed by rock-n-roll bingo at 10 p.m.
