Wise County
Wise County is located in far Southwest Virginia, along the Virginia/Kentucky boarder. The county features a population of 37,383 (2019) residents. The county was formed in 1856 and named for Henry A. Wise, who was the Governor of Virginia at the time. Wise County has a rich history and is home to The University of Virginia’s College at Wise, a public liberal arts college, that is a regional leader in cyber security and information technology programs. Additionally, Mountain Empire Community College is in the county and is a regional asset in workforce development programs. Wise County provides state-of-the-art infrastructure, skilled labor, and extensive training opportunities to serve its new and existing industry.
